Need your Dr. Google advice...
I have a lot going on... mostly not good.
I have been meaning to post... but just haven't had the time... nothing terrible... just hard.
But right now I have a question.
What type of doctor do you see about breast issues during pumping? OB/GYN... General Practitioner, Pediatrician?? I am having terrible itching on my breasts (NOT on the nipple on the actual breast.. and today I have a "rash" that looks like freckles on my breast... it is not raised just flat reddish brown is freckles (broken blood vessels?) This is just above where the flanges touch my beasts... hmmm... any ideas???
Still no baby...
My job is sucking rocks....
But I am getting about 7 - 8 ounces a day... so that is good.
Will write more soon!

Yay for getting so much milk! Boo for all the rest of the suck. :( I would think a LC would be able to help you with BF issues - mine is at our ped.'s office, but your OB's office may be able to help to. We also had a LC office at the hospital where we delivered. I'd call around, surely a LC somewhere will allow you an appointment.
Could the pain be mastitis? We were warned about it in our BF class... sounds awful! :( http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/mastitis/DS00678
My OB/GYN helped with the thrush once; family practitioner did once, too, so either would be fine. You could also talk to the lactation consultant at the local hospital.
That is an awesome amount of milk -- way to go! You might try taking acidophilus (pill form, over the counter) to see if it will clear up the problem. I was applying nystatin, with no luck, but in less than a week, the acidophilus cleared it up for me.
I had all kinds of crazy issues nursing, that drug out for months.... I saw my OB, I saw the pedi, but the BEST help I got was from a LC at the hospital.
Call around and see if you can find a hospital in your area that actually has a lactation resource center of some kind.
Your OB should be able to help. It sounds like thrush, which is an over growth of yeast, and easily treatable. If your doctor offers up Nystatin just smile politely and toss it out. Its main ingredient is sugar and on what does yeast feed? Sugar!
Old fashioned gentian violet will turn you purple, but will clear you up in about 48 hours.
Whichever course of treatment you decide to follow, you'll need to boil your flanges and make sure to dry your bras in direct sunlight to kill the yeast living on and in them respectively.
Wiping your breasts down with apple cider vinegar after each pumping session and letting it air dry will also help prevent a reappearance of the evil yeast.
And lastly, we all could use a daily dose of probiotic, but especially lactating women it goes a long way to equalizing the yeast in your body.
Good luck! And I'm sorry for the suckage in your life. It's going to turn around soon!
I honestly don't know who you should see. What about the doc you saw, the one who prescribed the meds for BFing?
Hope you feel better soon and get this all cleared up!
I agree about calling a LC or your doctor, and if you go to the La Leche League website and look around you can find phone numbers of local leaders that you can call. Great amount of milk!
I would call your OB. Of course, i had the same problem last week, and i asked my OB and LC, and no one knew what to make of it. I also had mastitis, so I thought it might be a reaction to the meds. Itchie boobies are NO FUN!!!
aw, honey, you poor thing...
call La Leche about finding an LC in a doctor's office. You want to get that cleared up.
My OBGYN was pretty useless about BFing. I love him and his partner dearly, but they were never ever trained on breastfeeding...totally clueless.
since I did NOT BF, I don't have any advice. Just here, offering support!
hope the summer brings you BABY!!! will be waiting with crossed fingers.
*hugs*
Hey...I was looking back at my first blog post and saw a comment from you there. I am so glad to see you still blogging but I've very sorry you are still waiting.
As for pumping, some OBs have a clue but the best person to talk to is a lactation consultant. If you don't like the first one you talk to (maybe they are too pushy or whatever) ask to see another one. Are you taking any supplements to help with milk production? If you are and you aren't taking Fenugreek, it might be helpful to add that to increase your supply although it sounds like you are doing pretty good with that. Not sure what the bumps are...doesn't quite sound like thrush. Good luck figuring it out.
