Playing Dress up in my Mind
I have to show this dream outfit... Here is my fantasy outfit: She is 4 or 5 on a sunny day in April at the church Easter Egg Hunt...
I can't wait to shop for Finley... and with Finley! I mean most of you know that I am already shopping for her like crazy...but I am actually trying to show restraint... I mean... When you are 22 months into the "paper pregnancy" sometimes the shopping and dreaming about your little bundle really gets you through the hard times.
A dear friend introduced me to the Chasing Fireflies catalogue and at that moment I knew I was in deep deep trouble. I loooove these clothes... I imagine Finn in them! And... of course... I can't afford them!!! I mean it is like couture for little girls... but I loooove looking at the catalogue and pretending I have money to blow on $37 sock and $170+ play outfits... then I go to Target...
But I really think I might swoon if I ever see my little Finn came running through the green grass in this outfit... and I can't wait to stand over the kitchen sink scrubbing the strawberry ice cream stains out of it!

Love it! Whatever you have to do to get through the rough spots. I'm in awe of you and your strength through this ordeal- keep your chin up, you'll get your girl!
This is gorgeous...I don't know you, but I can see you will have a "girly-girl!" Very cute! I think we get the children we were meant to have. I am no a girly-girl and love overalls and jeans. Interesting how it all works our.
See, you need a friend who does buy brand name clothes that has a daughter who's a year ahead of yours. Hand-me-downs are great!
Like Miss Erin says, whatever you have to do to get through the rough spots! I saw the CF for the first time last month as well and the clothes are adorable!
love that outfit and LOVE that you're dreaming of Finn in it...may 2010 bring you all you wish for , my friend. :)
I love that outfit as well but gee whiz, the clothes in that catalog are way over my budget! Not to mention that my daughter (at 6) already thinks she's too old for those kinds of cute outfits, she's much more likely to be in flared jeans and a fitted T-shirt. Moral of the story - definitely dress Finley as cutsie as possible, for as long as possible, because she won't let you get away with it forever!
I'll be thinking of you guys come Sunday night.

How sweet! Check high-end consignment stores about a month before Easter. You might just find that same outfit, worn once (or never) drastically reduced in price.

Jamie, did you see this? Check out the name on it! So cute. My husband and I are rooting for you, Mr. D, and little Finley. Also, I am so sorry for all the BS that has been slung around on your blog. Good luck to you and here's hoping 2010 brings you your heart's desire.
Oh, Mrs.D,
Just dropped in for the first time today. Kind of scary. Am I correct to understand that you are third in line for this fantasy child you have named Finley? Third after her first mom, which would come out fourth actually... And you're already planning on what she'll want to wear? Everybody's different. Some are very compliant. I don't know if that's genetics or nurturing, just luck or God waiting on you.
You can find a lot of the super high end baby stuff at consignment shops (and sometimes even goodwill!) You'll never get into trouble shopping at the thrift store : )
Its good to shop the expensive department stores, catalogs and boutiques to figure out what to look for at the consignment stores.
Drop by thrift and consignment stores when you can. Only buy what you LOVE. Its a fun thing to pass the time, and you should do it now, because you won't have time for thrift and consignment shopping after she gets here!
Its good to buy older clothes, because you will get a ton of babyclothes as gifts/hand-me-downs, and then you'll need clothes later.
Girls are FUN!!! Clothes is merely one of the fun things to shop for;~)
I spent a few minutes reading through your past couple of posts, and boy, did you stir something up! Wow. I don't know that I've seen so many people riled up in a long time.
We have been waiting for our match for a while now. We had a match with a birthmother who ultimately decided to parent. It's now been another nine months and we are still waiting.
Your adoption agency sounds unique, though. The way they match is certainly different from the way many others do it, but I'm sure it works. I know it will be awesome when you're #1 and the next match is for you!
Oh, and the outfit is darling. And so is the name. We have our names picked out, but haven't shared that part yet. I didn't want everyone to get attached to the name, and then when it fell through, not want us to use the name the next time. And I was glad I did that, cause I still love the name.
Sorry Jaime...hate to break it to you AGAIN...but you are destined to have a tomboy lol I feel it in my bones....lol I picture her wrapping the bow around her head and pretending to be a pirate...keep the faith.
